Tenure and Promotions Anthony J. McGoron, Ph.D. ANTHONY MCGORONBIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING Dr. McGoron received his BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering from Wright State and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech. He received post-doctoral training in Pharmacology and Cell Biophysics at the University of Cincinnati. He joined FIU in 1999, and was instrumental in the development of Biomedical Engineering programs and department, having served as its Undergraduate Program Director since inception and Interim Chair from 2007 to 2010. He served as the founding Advisor for the student chapters of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and the Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB) Biomedical Engineering Honor Society. In 2010 he was elected National President of AEMB and re-elected in 2012. He received the College of Engineering and Computing Outstanding Service Award in 2011 and the FIU Faculty Award for Excellence in Advising and Mentorship in 2013. He has over 150 journal articles, book chapters and proceeding papers. He has received funding from NIH, NSF, AHA, Fl-DOH, and DOD as well as numerous companies. The primary focus of his research is drug delivery and molecular imaging, primarily for cancer, and specifically the development of multimodal drugs that simultaneously image and provide therapy. |
 Gang Quan, Ph.D. GAN QUANELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING Dr. Gang Quan received his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Notre Dame, USA, his M.S. from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, and his B.S. from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He is currently an associate professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Florida International University. Before he joined the department, he was an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Carolina. His research interests and expertise include real-time systems, embedded system design, power-/thermal-aware computing, advanced computer architecture and reconfigurable computing. Dr. Quan is the recipient of a National Science Foundation Faculty Career Award. He also won the Best Paper Award from the 38th Design Automation Conference. His paper was also selected as one of the Most Influential Papers of 10 Years Design, Automation, and Test in Europe Conference (DATE) in 2007. Dr. Quan is a senior member of IEEE. |
 Deng Pan DENG PANSCHOOL OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATION SCIENCES Dr. Deng Pan received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2007, and joined Florida International University in the same year. His research interests are in high performance switch architecture, data center network management, and software defined networking. He has published over forty papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Communications, INFOCOM, and IPDPS. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and Department of Homeland Security. He has been actively serving the research community as conferences organizers or program committee members for conferences including INFOCOM, ICPP, and GLOBECOM.
